Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine is a relatively new field of study that treats injuries and diseases by harnessing the body’s own regenerative capabilities. While it encompasses a relatively wide range of techniques, the one therapy that is most commonly used in practice is PRP Platelet Rich Plasma treatment.
PRP is currently used in both people and animals to help with healing across specific issues particularly in the orthopaedic and sports medicine field. Recent studies have shown PRP to be efficacious in managing numerous orthopaedic conditions including osteoarthritis and soft tissue (tendon and ligament) injuries.
I’ve administered PRP treatments to many of my orthopaedic and rehab patients over the years with pleasing results so I know it works.
Conditions I have used PRP Treatment for include:
- Post Orthopaedic Surgery Healing
- Inflammatory conditions of the joint due to trauma or Osteoarthritis
- Select spinal conditions
- Select Renal conditions
- Select Autoimmune conditions
- Soft tissue injuries
- Tenosynovitis
- General inflammation
Just like any other therapies it’s only performed after a definitive diagnosis and with consideration of all other treatment options available.
