About Dr Malcolm Ware

Some of you may know me as the former Founder and Director of The Vet Practice and Canine Rehabilitation Centre in Whittlesea Vic which I sold in 2022.

Being located in a semi rural and now urban fringe area of Melbourne it was important to me to be able to offer a comprehensive range of services to my clients who otherwise would have to travel long distances to seek advanced services and after hours care.

Having turned my focus to surgery (particularly orthopaedic) over the last 2 decades I quickly realised that despite applying gold standard techniques to the procedures, patients were left sadly lacking the vital recovery therapies that humans receive after those same procedures.

This led me to exploring the world of Canine Rehabilitation in 2011 and becoming one of the first Australian practitioners to become certified in Canine Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine through CRI (Canine Rehabilitation Institute in the USA.

Shortly after this we extended our facility which allowed us to introduce many more of these beneficial and integrative therapies into our treatment programs as well as enable other members of my team to become certified in these modalities.

In addition to rehabilitation, other therapies included:

  • Hydrotherapy (pool and underwater treadmill)
  • Laser therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • PRP (Platelet rich plasma) and Stem Cell Therapy
  • Veterinary Shockwave and
  • Hyperbaric Medicine

These therapies contributed significantly to practice growth and drew clients from a wide range of locations across Australia..

Improve patient’s lives while adding a growth centre to your practice

In my experience being able to perform a wide variety of surgery (both soft tissue and orthopaedic) combined with these therapies can add significant revenue to your practice while at the same time providing the highest level of care for your patients.

In addition these skills represent incredible career development opportunities for your team, both vets and nurses due to their high demand from pet owners and wide case application.

One of my offers now is to teach other veterinarians who’d like to follow this rewarding practice development journey through on site and online training pathways.
